Heavy rains in parts of the southern Corn Belt

Across the Corn Belt, moisture from the weakening tropical depression stretches from Missouri to the Ohio Valley, and much of the region is under a threat of flooding.

On the Plains, rain has ended in southern areas hit hard by the recent tropical rains, although flooding remains an issue in many areas. This is especially true for parts of Oklahoma and Texas, which are experiencing isolated heavy showers this morning in the wake of Tropical Depression Bill. Rain is returning to the northern Plains, providing additional moisture for spring grains and oilseeds in or approaching reproduction.

In the South, showers linger over the Delta from the remnants of Tropical Storm Bill. Heat and humidity continue in the Southeast, with a Heat Advisory in place along the southern Atlantic Coast.

In the West, dry weather continues to dominate, with unseasonable warmth maintaining high irrigation demands in southern farming areas. A Heat Advisory is in effect for parts of southern California and the Southwest where temperatures are expected to reach 110°, locally.
