Weather
A fairly active pattern across the Nation
The early- to mid-week period will feature drought-easing precipitation in California, with 2- to 5-inch totals possible. Toward week’s end, some additional storminess will arrive across northern California. Other parts of the West will receive generally light precipitation, except for some heavier amounts in the Pacific Northwest. Farther east, a winter storm will produce early-week snow and freezing rain from the northern Plains into the Great Lakes region, while generally light rain will affect the South, East, and lower Midwest. Late in the week, a new storm will take shape across the nation’s mid-section, with widespread precipitation expected to develop and spread eastward from the central and southern Plains.
Looking ahead, the 6- to 10-day outlook calls for near- to above-normal temperatures nationwide, except for cooler-than-normal conditions in the central Gulf Coast region. Meanwhile, above-normal precipitation across most of the U.S. will contrast with drier-than-normal weather in northern New England and much of California.
