Next spring should start this fall
As I drive across the Midwest, I see many fields with unwanted weeds like waterhemp and ragweed. Jeff Carpenter, U.S. Corn Herbicide Portfolio Manager for DuPont Crop Protection, tells Brownfield that “next spring should start this fall.”
Getting ahead of those winter annual weeds will go a long way toward making sure the seed bed is clean and ready to plant in the spring, which ultimately equates to getting the most out of the seed investment.
After harvest but before the ground freezes, Carpenter says DuPont offers farmers solutions. With the flex acre program of the Basis herbicide program, the applicator can use one sprayer, spray the whole farm, and plant corn or soybeans in the spring
Farmers are getting the message that it is more important now to use products that can bring multiple modes of action to control and get ahead of weeds.
Carpenter tells Brownfield DuPont and DuPont Pioneer will continue to bring products that are good stewards of the environment and the soil while bringing the best possible yield in at harvest.
