Iowa ag secretary Bill Northey discusses avian flu
Iowa is the latest state to deal with the H5N2 avian influenza virus after it was confirmed Tuesday in a commercial turkey flock in Buena Vista County in northwest Iowa. Brownfield visited with Iowa secretary of agriculture Bill Northey about how the state is responding to that outbreak. And even though turkeys are more susceptible to his particular strain of the virus than chickens, we asked Northey if there are concerns about the egg industry being impacted by the virus. Iowa is the top egg-producing state in the U.S.
