USDA invests in health education in rural areas
The USDA’s National Institute of Food and Agriculture is investing 1.4-million-dollars in Rural Health and Safety Education grants. The program supports non-formal health education programs that provide timely health information to rural communities.
Ag Secretary Tom Vilsack says inadequate access to health and education resources often leads to greater problems. He says these projects help promote and enhance rural health, prevent substance abuse problems, and strengthen economic vitality.
Projects at the University of Georgia, Kansas State University, Montana State University, and Penn State are recipients of the latest round of grants.
