U.S. corn rating up 1%, soybeans hold
Crop conditions around the U.S. vary widely, but overall, the nation’s corn and soybeans are developing well.
As of Sunday, 78% of corn is silking, a little bit ahead of both last year and the five year average, and 14% of the crop is at the dough making stage, a little bit behind both last year and the average. 70% of U.S. corn is in good to excellent condition, up 1% on the week.
71% of soybeans are blooming, a big jump from last week, but still slightly slower than normal, and 34% is at the pod setting stage, double the week ago figure and modestly ahead of average. 62% of soybeans are in good to excellent condition, unchanged, but with 1% moving from good to excellent.
85% of the winter wheat crop is harvested, compared to 80% on average.
The spring wheat harvest is just underway at 2%, and 71% of the crop is in good to excellent shape, up 1% from a week ago.
61% of U.S. pastures and rangelands are called good to excellent, down 2% from last week.
