Stabenow opposes EPA nomination

The Ranking member of the Senate Ag Committee says she will oppose the nomination of Scott Pruitt to lead the EPA after last week’s Senate’s Environment and Public Works Committee hearing.

Michigan Senator Debbie Stabenow said in a statement she is deeply concerned by Pruitt’s record of siding with polluters over sound science when it comes to protecting the environment and public health.

Stabenow said she also questions the Oklahoma Attorney General’s commitment to supporting home-grown energy with his long-term opposition of the Renewable Fuel Standard.

John Barrasso. chairman of the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works, says Pruitt had a very thorough vetting process, answering significantly more questions than any past EPA administrator and demonstrated his qualifications to lead the agency.
