Solid week for corn, soybean export inspections

The USDA reports corn and soybean export inspections for the week ending May 25th were above what’s needed to meet USDA projections for the 2016/17 marketing year. The 2016/17 marketing year runs through May for wheat and August for corn, soybeans, and sorghum.

Wheat came out at 602,913 tons, down 71,646 from the week ending May 18th, but up 105,975 from the week ending May 26th, 2016. With the end of the 2016/17 marketing year approaching rapidly, wheat inspections are 27,031,777 tons, compared to 20,075,311 in 2015/16.

Corn was reported at 1,194,729 tons, 26,656 higher than the previous week and 408,222 above this time last year. So far this marketing year, corn inspections are 43,142,993 tons, compared to 28,402,381 a year ago.

Soybeans were pegged at 335,519 tons, 18,646 less than the week before, but 130,417 more than last year. At this point in the marketing year, soybean inspections are 50,789,530 tons, compared to 43,570,374 a year ago.

Sorghum inspections totaled 121,397 tons. That’s an increase of 61,335 tons on the week and 55,147 on the year. 2016/17 sorghum inspections are 4,666,693 tons, compared to 7,093,318 in 2015/16.
