Previewing Friday’s Cattle on Feed report

A livestock market analyst says the final Cattle on Feed report of the year will set the stage for the cattle market for the start of 2017.

University of Missouri’s Scott Brown says one area he’s watching is placements.  “I think there’s some interest in terms of how many calves we end up with on wheat pasture, how long do they stay there, and when do they come to the feed yard,” he says.  “We’ve been running lower than we might have anticipated with cattle on feed the last couple of reports.  However, I wonder if there are a lot of cattle sitting out there ready to be placed on feed at some point in time.”

The report comes out this Friday at 12 Eastern/11 Central.
