U.S. Ag Secretary Sonny Perdue went to Florida on Monday with a message of help for producers affected by Hurricane Irma. Perdue was in Georgia on Friday where cotton, pecans and other crops were damaged by the storm. He promised producers the help they need to recover, “We’re going to do everything the law allows to be as generous, as compassionate, as quick as we possibly can to help you all restore as much as you can. Nobody ever wins in an insurance situation. I don’t care if your house burns or your car gets totaled, and we know that.”

Perdue says he will work administratively and is working with members of Congress to bring extra help to producers.

Perdue will be in Texas this Thursday and Friday to share the same message with producers affected by Hurricane Harvey.
