OFBF supports passage of State Issue 2
The state’s largest farm organization has endorsed the passage of State Issue 2, the measure on the November 8 ballot that would retain the reforms to public employee collective bargaining laws passed by the General Assembly in March.
Jack Fisher, Executive Vice President of the Ohio Farm Bureau Federation (OFBF) says the organization’s decision came after careful study.
“We want great teachers, we want the best health and safety by way of our policeman and firemen, this is in no way from our view point an indication of our relationship with those folks from the standpoint of how they do their job,” Fisher said. “This is about the opportunity for government to engage with their workforce in a flexible manner to allow them to operate within their fiscal means.”
Because of its importance to the state, Fisher says Ohio Farm Bureau will provide its members and the public with materials that will allow them to be better informed.
“Learn as much as you possible can and at the end of the day we think this is a step forward in how we want to create jobs, enhance the business climate in Ohio and indeed continue on our path of balancing our budget at all levels of government,” said Fisher.
