No timeline on lifting ban on Brazilian beef imports

U.S. Ag Secretary Sonny Perdue says there is no timeline to lifting the U.S. ban on Brazlian beef. Brazil’s ag secretary met with Perdue last week asking for the ban to be lifted in 60 days, “That would be very challenging actually, within 60 days. We think it’s going to take a lot of auditing IN Brazil.”

Perdue says there are several areas of concern, “I mentioned specifically to the secretary there have been a compromise of some of their inspection systems down there. We want to make sure that is rooted out. He’s very concerned about that himself but he’s also concerned about the resources they have to do their job in Brazil as well.” Perdue made his comments during a visit at the Delaware State Fair.
