Nebraska’s wheat harvest now ahead of average
Nebraska’s wheat harvest is now 62 percent complete, slightly ahead of the five-year average of 56 percent. However, the rating of the crop remains mixed at best—33 percent good to excellent, 32 percent fair, and 35 percent poor to very poor.
Last week’s hot and humid conditions boosted the development of Nebraska’s row crops. Corn silking reached 63 percent, while soybean blooming was 61 percent. Corn rated 73 percent good to excellent, soybeans 72 percent.
Alfalfa second cutting stood at 67 percent, while pasture and range conditions rated 72 percent good to excellent.
