Nebraska organization works to build consumer trust

One of the chief goals of the Alliance for the Future of Agriculture in Nebraska—A-FAN—is to help every Nebraskan understand the connection between farm life and their quality of life.

The president of A-FAN is Lori Luebbe, executive director of the Nebraska Soybean Association.  She says A-FAN is working to put a face with agriculture, “working with the consumer—telling the consumer where their food comes from, how it is safe, and how it is produced.”

A-FAN organizational director Willow Holoubek says A-FAN is currently in phase two of an educational campaign to build consumer awareness and trust in Nebraska agriculture.

“We talk about contemporary practices and how they are good for the animal,” Holoubek says, “and that our farmer and ranchers want to take care of their animals, their farms, their families and their neighbors—just like their urban counterparts do.”

Holoubek says phase three of the campaign will focus on the importance of livestock to Nebraska’s economy.

A-FAN held its annual meeting Monday in Lincoln.

  • After the Dem. Sen. Ben Nelson was caught selling out his Obamacare vote for $100 million to give the people in Nebraska a free ride on the Obamacare, with that still fresh in mind. Then we have ” to build consumer awareness and trust in Nebraska agriculture” – hells bells – if I can’t trust the senator and the people of Nebraska – I certainly can’t trust Nebraska agriculture!
