Nebraska Corn urges RFS comments

ethanol plant-aurora neLeaders of Nebraska’s corn industry are urging Nebraska farmers to submit comments on the proposed reductions to the Renewable Fuels Standard.

Nebraska Corn Board chairman Tim Scheer of St. Paul says it’s “absolutely imperative” that farmers get engaged in the effort to convince EPA to return the RFS numbers back to the levels that Congress intended.

Nebraska Corn Growers Association president Larry Mussack of Decatur says EPA’s proposal “plays right into the hands of the oil industry, which has been pulling out all the stops to prevent loss of market share to renewable fuels such as ethanol”.

To help facilitate comments, a portal has been established on both the Nebraska Corn Board and Nebraska Corn Growers Association web sites.  The deadline to submit comments is July 27th.
