Nebraska AG criticizes proposed CAFO reporting requirements

Nebraska Attorney General Jon Bruning is criticizing the U.S. EPA’s proposed expansion of CAFO  (Concentrated Animal Feeding Operation) reporting requirements.

Bruning says the expansion of reporting is “far outside of EPA’s jurisdiction”.  He calls it “blatant federal overreach” and accuses the EPA of targeting Nebraska’s livestock industry.

Under the proposed rule, all livestock operations in the U.S. never before subject to the CAFO reporting requirements under the Clean Water Act, would be added.

Bruning has joined 11 other state attorneys general in submitting comments to the EPA in opposition to the proposed changes.
