Missouri plant has permit reinstated
A central Missouri meat processing plant whose permit was removed earlier this week is now back in business. A routine inspection by the Missouri Department of Agriculture found non-potable water being used in plant operations. The Missouri inspectors found the violations at the Leinbach Custom Butchering in Versailles, Missouri. Non-potable water is not fit for drinking.
Today, the department announced that the plant’s custom exempt processing permits would be reinstated because the problems have been corrected. The plant does not sell to the public. Anyone who’s had custom processing done at Leinbach’s is urged to carefully examine all products before eating them.
