Minnesota Specialty Crop Block Grants available

The Minnesota Department of Agriculture is encouraging fruit, vegetable, and other specialty crop producers to apply for grants intended to spur the competitiveness of their crops.

MDA Grant Administrator David Weinand says Specialty Crop Block Grants allow farmers to be innovative on and off the farm.

He adds projects that benefit the entire sector through research and development are being sought.

Grants are available to fund innovation in production, efficiency, distribution, and management of specialty crops.

Applications should be submitted to the Minnesota Department of Agriculture no later than April 27th.

Specialty crops are defined by the USDA as fruits, vegetables, dried nuts, tree nuts, horticulture and nursery crops—including floriculture.
