Kentucky crops: 9% corn and 8% soybeans planted

Weather has limited planting progress in Kentucky.

Corn is 9 percent planted, and soybeans are 8 percent planted.  Both advanced slightly from the previous week. Tobacco transplants are 60 percent seeded. 

Winter wheat is 8 percent headed, with 90 percent of the crop rated good to excellent. 

Pastures are rated 65 percent good to excellent.  Alfalfa hay freeze damage was reported at 1 percent severe, 3 percent moderate, and 21 percent light.

Topsoil moisture is 94 percent and subsoil moisture is listed as 90 percent adequate to surplus.
