Iowa Carcass Challenge winners announced
The Iowa Cattlemen’s Association has announced the winners of its Carcass Challenge contest.
An entry from Accu-Steel of Templeton, Iowa , with its 15.5 square inches of ribeye, took the top award of two-thousand dollars. The Accu-Steel steer graded Choice with a Yield Grad of 1. Its Retail Value per Days on Feed (RVDoF) was 7,082 dollars.
Other cash prize winners were Jim Bradford of Guthrie Center, who won second place and 15-hundred dollars—and Holden’s Maines & More and the Greene County Cattlemen’s Association, winning third place and one-thousand dollars.
The ICA Carcass Challenge was developed to bring back a statewide carcass contest for cattle producers. ICA officials say plans are underway for the next Carcass Challenge. Details and entry requirements can be found on the ICA web site under the ICA Programs tab.
