Illinois FFA members, beef producers convene blocks apart

From cattlemen to agriculture youth, it’s a busy week in Springfield, Illinois.  Thousands of Illinois FFA members opened their convention at the Prairie Capitol Convention Center doing business and comparing notes on projects.

DSCN3856Illinois FFA Section 15 President Aidan Groves told Brownfield Ag News Tuesday that those project, Supervised Agricultural Experiences, range from livestock and crops, like his, to foodservice projects for members who work at McDonald’s or Subway.

DSCN3813Down the street from the FFA Convention, the Illinois Beef Association also opened its Summer Conference Tuesday.  Executive Vice President Reid Blossom told Brownfield Ag News that the primary conversation among cattlemen is how to deal with lower cattle prices.

Both conventions are in session through Thursday.
