House passes continuing resolution
The House passed the continuing resolution Thursday morning which will fund the federal government for the rest of the fiscal year. On a 318-109 vote, representatives approved the plan passed by the Senate Wednesday which locks-in the across-the-board sequester budget cuts but does allow for some shuffling of funds by the military and some federal agencies. It includes a $55 million shift in USDA funds to the Food Safety and Inspection Service to prevent the furloughing of federal meat inspectors this summer.
The bill now goes to the President.
