Hinson, Nunn say farm bill movement expected soon

Some lawmakers say they expect movement on the farm bill next month.

Republican Congresswoman Ashley Hinson of Iowa tells Brownfield a draft of the legislation is expected soon. “We’re moving forward with some compromised language in the farm bill,” she said. “I’m not sure that’s ready for prime time yet, but we are hoping to have the farm bill out within the next couple of weeks.”

Republican Congressman Zach Nunn of Iowasays his priorities remain the same. “The ability to innovate and secure our farmland from bad actors, including making sure that China cannot buy U.S. farmland anywhere in the United States,” he said. “We’ve also got a provision in here to help conserve farmland and natural resources for food resilience and increased biofuel products.”

The current extension of the 2018 farm bill expires at the end of September.

  • It is important to all US citizens to keep our farmlands safe. Safe from foreign investors, harmful chemicals, urban sprawl.
