Farm Bureau getting familiar with POTUS candidates

Kevin Paap

Farm Bureau leaders are looking forward to getting to know the U.S. presidential candidates better.

Minnesota Farm Bureau’s Kevin Paap was one of 50 state presidents who visited Washington DC recently, and says the group plans to return following the Convention.

“Every year the 50 presidents ask to have a phone call or sit-down with the candidates to talk about the issues.”

He tells Brownfield trade issues like the Trans Pacific Partnership need to be discussed with the next president.

“We forget sometimes that trade is more than just ag products, and there are some concerns.  And that’s why we want to hear those concerns now, and be able to address those concerns to be able to move forward.”

While top candidates Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump have no direct ties to agriculture, Paap says Farm Bureau hopes the vice presidential nominees have some type of connection to rural America.
