DuPont 2nd quarter earnings up

DuPont reports higher second-quarter earnings as the company moves towards its anticipated year-end merger with Dow.

Second quarter DuPont sales were 7-point-1 billion dollars.  Its ag division earnings were 12% higher than a year ago.  Company officials say corn seed and insecticide volumes were up, but agricultural spending on soybeans and chemical sprays was down.

Dow and DuPont shareholders approved the merger last week but it still has to be approved by federal officials.
