Dicamba-tolerant beans, cotton approved
The USDA has given final approval to dicamba-tolerant soybeans and cotton developed by Monsanto.
Those products will be resistant to a new herbicide that combines dicamba and glyphosate. Monsanto is still waiting for final approval on the herbicide from the EPA.
The company also awaits approval from Chinese regulators to allow imports of the new soybeans. Last week, Monsanto chief technology officer Robb Fraley told analysts the company expects to have Chinese approval in time for a commercial launch in 2016.
Monsanto is branding the new products as the “Roundup Ready Xtend Crop System”.
