Deere to review crop insurance business

Deere & Company says it is going to review “strategic options” for its crop insurance business.

Some analysts see that as a signal that the company’s eight-year foray into crop insurance could be coming to a close.

Deere says no formal decisions have been made and no agreements have been reached concerning the company’s crop insurance operations.  The company has retained financial adviser Citigroup to assist in the review.

Deere’s crop insurance unit operates under Deere Insurance Company, a segment within John Deere Financial.
