Mild, generally dry pattern ahead for the Heartland

Looking ahead, the 6- to 10-day outlook calls for the likelihood of below-normal temperatures in the East, while warmer-than-normal weather will cover a large area from the Pacific Coast to the Plains and upper Midwest.

Meanwhile, near- or below-normal precipitation across most of the country should contrast with wetter-than-normal from the Pacific Northwest to the northern Rockies.
