A much warmer pattern ahead next week for the Heartland; a few showers develop on the Plains

Looking ahead, the 6- to 10-day outlook calls for the likelihood of near- or above-normal temperatures and precipitation across most of the country.  Cooler-than-normal conditions will be confined to southern Texas and the southern Atlantic States.

Meanwhile, drier-than-normal conditions should be limited to the Pacific Northwest and an area stretching from the Tennessee and Ohio Valleys into the lower Great Lakes region and the Northeast.
