An unseasonably cool, wet pattern ahead for much of the Heartland

Looking ahead, the 6- to 10-day outlook calls for near- or below-normal temperatures across the northern half of the U.S., with the upper Midwest experiencing the greatest likelihood of cool weather.  In contrast, hotter-than-normal conditions will span the South, from California to the southern Atlantic Coast.

Meanwhile, near- or above-normal rainfall across most of the country should contrast with drier-than-normal weather from the Great Basin to the western Gulf Coast region.
