A significant pattern shift ahead for much of the Nation

Looking ahead, the 6- to 10-day outlook calls for a sudden reversal of recent weather anomalies.  For example, above-normal temperatures will develop from the Mississippi Valley to the East Coast, while cooler-than-normal conditions will engulf the West. 

Meanwhile, wetter-than-normal weather will cover much of the country, particularly the Pacific Northwest.
