A much-needed wetter pattern shift ahead for the Heartland

Looking ahead, the 6- to 10-day outlook calls for near- or above-normal temperatures nationwide, except for cooler-than-normal conditions in southern Arizona and near Lake Superior.

Meanwhile, near- or below-normal rainfall across much of the South and from the Pacific Coast into the upper Midwest should contrast with wetter-than-normal weather in a swath from the Southwest into the Northeast, including the Four Corners region, central sections of the Rockies and Plains, the Ohio Valley, and the lower Midwest.
