A cool, somewhat showery pattern ahead for much of the Heartland

Looking ahead, the 6- to 10-day outlook calls for the likelihood of below-normal temperatures in the Pacific Northwest and most areas east of the Rockies, while warmer-than-normal weather will prevail from California and the Great Basin into the Rio Grande Valley.

Meanwhile, below-normal precipitation in portions of the Great Lakes region and west of the Rockies should contrast with wetter-than-normal conditions in a broad area covering much of the Plains and South.
