A chilly pattern ahead, centered on the Midwest; beneficial showers to return to the Plains

Looking ahead, the 6- to 10-day outlook calls for the likelihood of below-normal temperatures in the Pacific Northwest and much of the eastern half of the U.S., while warmer-than-normal weather will be confined to the Great Basin and Southwest.

Meanwhile, near- or below-normal precipitation across most of the country should contrast with wetter-than-normal weather across much of Florida, southern Texas, New England, and the Northwest.
