Yields better than expected in southeast Minnesota
Harvest is on pause in southeastern Minnesota.
Cannon Falls corn and soybean grower Rob Tate tells Brownfield he’s made a lot of progress this fall.
“We’ve gotten rain here the past couple of days, so everything has kind of come to a halt. We finished up soybeans about a week and-a-half ago (and) bean yields were better than expected.”
He points out expectations were low because the growing season was extremely dry.
“But overall I would say we’re just a little under APH from a yield standpoint. And corn, we’re down to three or four days left of corn harvest and seeing quite a bit of variability in corn yields.”
Tate says he’ll also continue tillage and fall fertilizer applications when conditions allow.
