World Dairy Expo adds shows, app

The 53rd World Dairy Expo in Madison has a couple of new additions for 2019.  Bill Hageman is World Dairy Expo’s Board President.  He tells Brownfield a new smartphone app helps visitors and exhibitors alike. “It’s for those commercial exhibitors and even for our dairy exhibitors, it’s all about knowing who’s here, what they’re looking at, where they’re spending their time, and sharing that information so we can connect buyer and seller, absolutely.”

Hageman says three of the dairy breeds have seen additional development and interest, which prompted them to expand the cattle judging classes. “We’ve added a summer yearling in milk class, so we’ve got an extra class in the Holstein, the red and white Holstein, and the junior Holstein breeds. It’s very exciting to give another opportunity for some more market presence and some more attributes to be presented for the benefit of those breeds.”

Hageman says they are also paying attention to city and county efforts to expand the host site, the Alliant Energy Center. “We have a waiting list for commercial exhibitors. We’d like to fit in more, and give more opportunities for new techniques, new technologies to be displayed and shared.”

Hageman says it’s important for World Dairy Expo to bring value to exhibitors and visitors that come every year to learn about the latest in the dairy industry.

More than 60 thousand people attend World Dairy Expo each year, including 2,500 international visitors.
