Wisconsin Senate passes two ag-related tax exceptions

The Wisconsin State Senate has passed two bills that would allow Evansville and Stevens Point to assist agriculture-related development projects.

Senate Bill 787 would allow Evansville to offer tax incremental financing assistance for a proposed CHS soybean crushing plant on the city’s southeast side.  Senate Bill 880 would allow Stevens Point to offer tax incremental financing assistance for a proposed Agristo potato processing plant in the city’s industrial park.

Evansville and Stevens Point need state approval to offer tax incremental financing exceeding 12% of their total equalized value.

Both bills have been messaged to the State Assembly for consideration.

The Assembly companion bills are AB834 for the Evansville project and AB983 for the Stevens Point project.

  • This is great 👍. These types of things are what our legislation officials should be doing more of ! And not only during election years. We need more cooperation with the officials. So a big thank you for making this transpire. If only this could transpire with road projects.
