Wisconsin crops doing well despite scattered rain

Scattered rains last week helped Wisconsin crops but many areas still need more rain.

USDA reporters say 73% of the topsoil has adequate moisture, but 22% is short on moisture.

Seventy-six percent of the corn is in good to excellent condition, even after a dry week.

Seventy-eight percent of the soybeans are good to excellent, with 29% blooming.

The oats are behind average with 79% headed or beyond.

The potato crop is improving, with 94% of the crop now good to excellent.

Sixty-six percent of second-crop alfalfa is now cut, and all hay condition is reported as 81% good to excellent condition.
