Wisconsin Congressmen propose Dairy Pricing and Policy Commission

Two Wisconsin Congressmen have introduced a bill that would create a Dairy Pricing and Policy Commission.  Republican Mike Gallagher and Democrat Ron Kind say if passed, the commission would include dairy farmers, processors, and other industry experts and would provide recommendations on how to address the challenges dairy farmers face.

The lawmakers say the commission would evaluate dairy market challenges and opportunities, consider supply chain coordination, and consider Federal Milk Marketing Order reforms.

Kind says the Dairy Pricing and Policy Commission would bring everyone to the table to discuss the issues facing dairy farmers and find solutions to ensure they can continue to succeed.  Gallagher says Congress needs to help farmers get back on their feet, and that starts with bringing together experts across the agricultural, academic, and dairy industries to better inform Congress on policies that will change the status quo.
