Western Farm Show features low-stress cattle handling demonstrations
The Western Farm Show will feature demonstrations of low-stress cattle handling. Farm Show manager Ken Dean tells Brownfield low-stress techniques are easier on cattle, on the handler, and improve a rancher’s bottom line.
“Stress can cause anywhere from a five to even ten percent reduction in weight,” Dean told Brownfield Ag News, “which is a problem.”
The demonstrations, conducted by livestock handling expert Ron Gill of Texas A&M University, are on the Saturday of the Western Farm Show, which runs Friday, Saturday and Sunday, February 23-25, in the American Royal Complex in Kansas City.
