Webinar to address dairy farmer stress

Extension educators in Iowa, Illinois, Minnesota, and Wisconsin are preparing to help dairy farmers recognize and manage stress.  Jennifer Bentley with Iowa State tells Brownfield they are hosting a series of webinars starting July 10th.  “The first webinar is really designed to help service providers and industry people to recognize those signs of stress get people the help that they need.”

Bentley says farmers, agribusiness professionals, and others can participate or just listen in.   She says a farmer’s stress can be triggered by many things beyond market prices.  “We get so caught up in our day-t0-day work.  We are working with long hours, and we find farmers may have little time to talk through their issues.  Sometimes, there are inter-generational differences that we’re dealing with, excessive workloads, so it’s really hard to break down those barriers.”

The webinar is free, and a link to join can be found here.

Jennifer Bentley talks about farmer stress and the webinar series with Brownfield’s Larry Lee.
