USDA working to implement 2018 Farm Bill

Ag Secretary Sonny Perdue says the partial government shutdown didn’t completely stop the USDA from working on the implementation of the 2018 Farm Bill.

“We’ve already been at work and even during the shutdown many of those people were there working on farm bill implementation,” he says.

He says the USDA is committed to making farm bill programs available to farmers as soon as possible.

“USDA has a lot of detail work to do regarding implementation- all the rules and regulations our departments have to comply with and our producers have to comply with,” he says.

President Trump signed the farm bill into law in December shortly before the government shutdown.
