USDA makes specialty crop research investment

The USDA’s National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA) has invested $11 Million dollars in research for specialty crops.

Under Secretary Scott Hutchins says the public-private research will focus on innovative solutions to pest management problems.

The Minor Crop Pest Management program enables field crop technologies for the safe use in fruits and vegetables, tree nuts and other horticulture and floriculture products.

Four universities including the Michigan State University at East Lansing will be involved in the research.
