USDA declares 27 Iowa counties disaster areas

USDA’s declared 27 Iowa counties primary disaster areas, also making a number of neighboring counties eligible for aid, covering the effects of severe storms, excessive rains, flooding, flash flooding, tornadoes, and other weather problems from April 1, 2011 through now.

The primary counties are Clarke, Davis, Decatur, Fremont, Henry, Jefferson, Jones, Keokuk, Lee, Linn, Louisa, Lucas, Mahaska, Marshall, Mills, Monona, Monroe, Montgomery, Page, Polk, Tama, Taylor, Van Buren, Wapello, Washington, Wayne, and Woodbury.

Contiguous Iowa counties and neighboring counties in Illinois, Missouri, Nebraska, and South Dakota are also eligible.

Iowa: Adams, Appanoose, Benton, Black Hawk, Boone, Buchanan, Cass, Cedar, Cherokee, Clinton, Crawford, Dallas, Delaware, Des Moines, Dubuque, Grundy, Hardin, Harrison, Ida, Iowa, Jackson, Jasper, Johnson, Madison, Marion, Muscatine, Plymouth, Pottawattamie, Poweshiek, Ringgold, Story, Union, and Warren

Illinois: Hancock, Henderson, Mercer, and Rock Island

Missouri: Atchison, Clark, Harrison, Mercer, Nodaway, Putnam, Schuyler, Scotland, and Worth

Nebraska: Burt, Cass, Dakota, Otoe, Sarpy, and Thurston

South Dakota: Union
