USDA approves Rural Development loan for Jump River Electric Cooperative

One Wisconsin project will get financial assistance from USDA’s Rural Electric Infrastructure Improvement program.

Wisconsin Rural Development Director Frank Frassetto says Jump River Electric Cooperative will receive $11 million dollars as a loan to build and improve 133 miles of distribution line, connecting 461 customers. He says the project will enhance system reliability and add smart grid technologies.

Jump River Electric Cooperative is headquartered in Ladysmith, Wisconsin and serves more than 9,000 members with over 1,769 miles of energized line.

USDA recently announced they will award 1.4 billion dollars for rural electric projects in 21 states.
