USDA adding conservationists

USDA is undergoing a nationwide search for soil conservationists.

Nearly $20 billion from the Inflation Reduction Act is dedicated to conservation efforts and the Natural Resources Conservation Service needs more boots on the ground to help get practices in place.

Inflation Reduction Act Coordinator for NRCS Gayle Barry tells Brownfield they are hiring entry-level soil conservationists in all 50 states.

“We’re really looking for people who are excited to work in conservation, who want to help people help the land,” she shares.

Barry says the agency is also still working to fill current staff openings to replace widespread retirements.

“We have a lot of vacancies,” she says.
