US-China trade talks continue

US Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer and Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin are expected to speak to Chinese Vice Premier Liu He today to discuss the phase one agreement.

Speaking Thursday in Washington DC, Vice President Mike Pence criticized China, saying that the country has still not taken significant action to improve the economic relationship.

But, he says President Trump still believes Beijing wants to make a deal.

“We welcome this support for American agriculture in the new phase one agreement and hope it can be signed soon at the APEC summit in Chile this week but China knows there’s a whole range of structural and significant issues between our countries that also must be addressed,” he says.

Pence says intellectual property theft, for example, must be addressed.
