United Soybean Board fighting back against negative research

False research claims and consumer fear has prompted a commodity organization to fight back for its farmers.

United Soybean Board director Chuck Prellwitz from Wisconsin says along with promoting soybeans around the world, they also must defend its value for food and energy. “We have a person who we have hired to the USB, a new position, that is just in charge of looking at things that come up and being able to address them and show where this is just fake science.”

For example, Prellwitz tells Brownfield the University of California-Riverside criticizes using soybean products. “There’s something with soybeans that they’re thinking it’s hooked up with certain different mental capabilities and things like that. They have no proof, but the still put it out there.”

Prellwitz says this recently-added resource person watches everything from the Coronavirus to misleading studies to help producers show food is good, safe, and easy to use.

Prellwitz spoke to Brownfield at the 2020 Wisconsin Corn-Soy-Pork Expo in Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin.
