U.S. corn, soybean ratings hold

The USDA’s weekly national crop progress report shows U.S. corn and soybeans in good overall condition. State by state and within states, development rates and conditions vary widely and any recent flood damage or crop loss in parts of the Northern Midwest may not be immediately known.

Nationally, as of Sunday, 97% of corn has dented and 73% has reached maturity, both ahead of their respective five year averages. 15% of the crop is harvested, compared to 19% on average. 74% of U.S. corn is in good to excellent condition, unchanged on the week.

68% of soybeans are dropping leaves, compared to 64% typically, and 10% is harvested, just behind the normal pace of 13%. 73% of U.S. soybeans are rated good to excellent, steady with last week.

30% of winter wheat is planted and 8% has emerged, matching the usual for this time of year.

51% of pastures and rangelands are in good to excellent shape, holding from a week ago.
