Trump says administration is prepared for hurricane farm assistance

President Trump says if farmers get hit by Hurricane Dorian, the federal government is ready to help them.  Trump says that much like previous disasters in Florida, Georgia, and Alabama, he is prepared to send aid to farmers affected by the hurricane. He says, “As you know, we sent aid to the farmers. They lost their crops. They lost, in some cases, they lost almost everything. We were able to help them and get them back on their feet. We’ll be doing the same thing now.”

Trump says if needed, there’s money available from tariffs that can be used for farm disaster assistance. “We have a lot of money because of the tariffs we’ve taken in. We’ve taken in tremendous, many billions of dollars of tariffs from China and we will have a lot of money to be helping our farmers along the coast if they get hit. They may not get hit.”

Trump told reporters right now, it’s difficult to predict exactly where that aid might be needed because of the unknown track of the storm.
